Welcome to the Buffalo United Soccer Club - Western New York's most complete premier level soccer club offering programs for boys and girls ages 5 to 18.  The Buffalo United Soccer Club is an extention of the local travel soccer programs.  It offers players from Western New York the opportunity to both train under professional coaches and play a highly competitive schedule.  Our members consist of players who are looking to play with and against other players who have the same passion for the game as they do.  Many of our players go on to perform well in state and regional Olympic Development events, all levels of collegiate soccer, and more.

Due to some confusion on how to make final payment if your child makes the White team we have put together a short 'How To'.  It is important you pay your balance before your child's team begins competitions.

Don't forget to bring your gently used soccer gear with you to the facilities for the Buffalo Soccer Club passback bins.  We now have one at Sportsplex, Epic Center, and Sahlens.

Coach's Corner

Is Coach Doing A Good Job?

Sam Snow wrote a great piece for Soccer America that reinforces and validates the philosophy of Buffalo United.

Proper player development leads to good match performance, which often leads to wins.

But there are shortcuts to winning, particularly with players younger than high-school age. Just get the biggest, fastest kids around -- then outrun and outmuscle the opposition.

Play run-n-gun and high-pressure defense against young players who are still learning the game and that amount of pressure can win games. Mind you, it doesn't help those kids learn how to play soccer in any sophisticated manner.

It is certainly the stance of US Youth Soccer to focus more on match performance than outcome; yet this is not to say that players should not strive to win. There's nothing wrong with winning!

But remember, the outcome of the game is not necessarily a measure of whether the coach is doing a good job developing players. Players and coaches should diligently work to improve their performance. This is the drive for excellence as opposed to superficial success.

All right, fine you say. So how do we measure success?
