U13 to U14

Tryouts

Tryouts will be held on an annual basis to determine the make up of each team. Tryouts will be held in late July and early August. Players wishing to tryout over the winter need to contact Tom Garigen for more information.

Philosophy

The emphasis with these age groups gradually becomes more competitive. A high emphasis on technical training and individual tactics is placed on these group.  As teams get older more of an emphasis is placed on small group and team tactics.  Player development is still the focus, even at these ages.  Winning is considered a product of a steady and effective focus on player growth.

Training

Teams will train two to three times per week over the winter from November to April depending on age level. Once the outdoor season begins teams will train about twice a week. The typical season begins in November and ends about mid July.

Competition

Outdoor Leagues - The Buffalo United Soccer Club will have teams that participate in the:

  1. Upstate Premier League...
This leagues hosts teams from all of New York State West.
Buffalo United is the only club from the Buffalo area able to participate in the UPL.
  2. Great Lakes Alliance...
This league hosts teams from New York West, PA West, and Ohio
  3. USYSA Region I Director's League and Western Appalachian Sub-Leagues...
This league hosts teams from all of Region I. Which include NY, Virginia, Pennsylvania, NJ, and more.
  4. Most of our "B" Teams will participate in the Upstate Premier League.

The formation of new leagues is an ongoing process, with new leagues forming each year. It is the goal of our club to provide the most competitive environment that is possible for each one of our teams, while trying to minimize the amount of travel.

Tournaments

BUSC does what it can to minimize the number of events its teams participate in that require the kids to play multiple games in one day or three or more games in two days.  The culture of the game in this country requires us to participate in some tournament play.  (See club philosophy for more information on tournament play)

Indoor Leagues

Our teams all compete 11v11 indoors in the Sahlens Elite League.

Dual Carding

At the u13 age level only "B" teams will be allowed to dual card. The Buffalo United Soccer team must remain the priority if a conflict occurs between the two teams. See club philosophy for more information on dual carding.
